First established as a primary school in 1977, this school could only offer grades 1-3, as it had only one teacher. It was only in 1982 that the curriculum could be expanded to include grade 4 and 5. The existing primary school building was constructed in 1998, with contributions from World Vision, GAPE, government and the community. Over the years, many students from the six surrounding villages have graduated from this school but few could continue their education, as the journey to the nearest secondary school is long and difficult. Hence, the Laotian Provincial Office for Education decided to open a branch secondary school in 2009, offering grade 1-3 secondary level classes. The secondary level classes are conducted in the primary school’s library.
We built an additional school building as well as two toilets and provided the furniture.
