How we help

  • We build new schools or renovate existing ones in remote areas. We provide stationery and teaching materials for those schools that are well managed.
  • We build boarding houses for students from remote communities to enable them to attend school. We plan to establish school farms for these students as well.
  • Laos has high class repetition and drop-out rates. Some students from ethnic minorities have language problems and cannot speak Laotian when entering school. We help them by supporting pre-school programmes preparing children for Laotian primary school.
  • Many schools in Laos do not have toilets or clean water. We build toilets at schools and water systems providing safe drinking water for schools and communities.
  • Gross enrolment rate at lower secondary schools is 60% and at upper secondary schools it is only 34%. We provide scholarships for high school students from poor backgrounds who have high motivation to study and have good grades.
  • We provide a limited number of university scholarships for academically strong students from the three provinces we work in to study on undergraduate level within Laos.
  • We provide teacher training in physics and chemistry. We provide university scholarships for a small number of science teachers on graduate level.
