As an intern in the Monitoring and Evaluation department, I worked on an impact evaluation of one of Child’s Dream projects. This provided me with valuable experience both in the office and the field, as I got to work directly with local communities. The internship gave me the opportunity to apply the theoretical skills gained from my degree in International Humanitarian Action into practice. Not only did I learn a lot about the specifics of monitoring and evaluation, I was also able to gain a deeper understanding about the organisational culture and what it is to be part of an amazing team.

I worked as a Child’s Dream intern for three months and it was an amazing and enriching experience. At first, I thought, how can they make so many projects? Building schools, supporting education in so many places and areas, making valuable partnerships with other organizations and so on. But then I saw the passionate dedication of Child’s Dream teams and I felt the same energy. During my time with them I perceived that my work was not only valued but also useful, and this was what I was looking for as a student.

The internship I had at Child’s Dream gave me the inspiration I needed to write my thesis on localization. My time at CD will always stand out to me because of the interesting job I did there, the pleasant atmosphere, and the helpfulness of my co-workers. In particular, I like CD’s bottom-up approach to localization, which involves giving locals more say over the form and content of interventions. The work ethic was one of the many things I picked up at CD, and I’m glad to see that the organization is set on positive course for the future. Absolutely, CD is a great location to live and work. I appreciate the thoughtfulness of CD’s leadership and staff.
