Vocational Training Programmes

Issues

▪   Both secondary and tertiary government formal education institutions often lack applicable, practical skills required for employment
▪   Graduates do not fully understand how to apply their skills in order to improve their communities
▪   Migrant and refugee schools are not officially accredited by governments, limiting application of their students’ knowledge as employers do not recognise their skills
▪   Students and young professionals may not have the level of understanding required for the job because the quality of their schooling is low
▪   Students may not have the time to attend full-time courses because they must work to support their families

Objectives

▪   To support academic and vocational training courses
▪   To support in-service training, especially for teachers and school staff
▪   To support on-the-job learning by arranging internships and apprenticeships
▪   To provide advice and assistance that bridge the gap between school and employment
▪   To maintain flexible courses and schedules so that students can work and study at the same time
▪   To build up a strong relationship between the vocational centers and local businesses
