Established in 2015 by Friends Without A Border, Lao Friends Hospital for Children (LFHC) is located in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR. LFHC is the sole hospital in northern Lao PDR providing free, high-quality medical care to approximately 35,000 children aged 0 to 15 annually. Additionally, the hospital offers medical education to health professionals and conducts an outreach programme to enhance preventive care, improving health, nutrition, and hygiene standards in local communities.

Since 2020, Child’s Dream has been supporting LFHC’s Nurse Education Programme which provides medical education aimed at raising health care standards and reducing child mortality nationwide. The programme focuses on advancing the capacity of LFHC nurses as well as nurses and nursing students from other hospitals and affiliates through clinical training, leadership development, and English courses, reaching around 300 participants yearly.

This year, LFHC strengthens its role as a leading teaching hospital by launching the Malnutrition Prevention and Paediatric Care Programme in Phonxay and Nan Districts of Luang Prabang Province. The programme aims to raise awareness of malnutrition prevention among approximately 3,000 families and enhance access to malnutrition treatment and the quality of paediatric care. Its primary goal is to tackle and reduce malnutrition at the community level and alleviate pressure on the provincial health system by strengthening the capabilities of over 200 health authorities, village health volunteers, and nursing staff at district hospitals.

Its primary goal is to tackle and reduce malnutrition at the community level and alleviate pressure on the provincial health system.

We are proud to work with LFHC on these vital initiatives, contributing to improving health care access and quality in Lao PDR.
