KZVTC was founded in July 2008 to promote practical and sustainable education – mostly language and computer skills –  for poverty-stricken Myanmar migrant youth in Mae Sot. Early morning, evening and weekend classes empower about 300 students each term to get better and safer work than exploitative and often dangerous factory employment.

The success of the Mae Sot programme led, in late 2012, to its expansion into Bago, in Myanmar, where up to 900 youth per term benefit.

Knowledge Zone charges fees to students who can afford them. This money is used to support about 50% of the running costs, with the remainder provided by Child’s Dream, which closely monitors the programme.
