The programme focus is on implementing a monastic school health programme in Bago for children aged 5 to 18. For one year, medical staff will visit monastic schools once a week to provide necessary medical attention and to raise hygiene awareness. With no less than 7,000 children who cannot afford to go to government schools, monastic schools are the only option. However, these schools are severely undersupplied and depend on donations to function. As a result, these children live in impoverished conditions and suffer from malnutrition, poor hygiene, avoidable diseases and a lack of basic health services.
