A major hurdle for students from Myanmar to get into university is their non-formal education, which limits their eligibility for admission. MHEP is an exam-focused course, which aims to legitimise these students’ education, by preparing them for an internationally recognised and accredited high school exam. Upon passing the exam, the students will receive a high school diploma that will allow them to pursue a university education.
Having successfully piloted MHEP in early 2009, we will be fully funding this programme on an annual basis. MHEP will provide an academic pathway for the students whom we are supporting in our schools in the refugee camps and migrant learning centres.
